OUR STORY
Two dirt roads.
Plenty of character.
The story of Noosa Junction
Noosa Junction grew from a simple crossroads into a vibrant village, shaped by a close-knit community, a love of the coast and a laid-back way of life. From humble beginnings to a much-loved local hub, it’s a story of people, place and enduring character.
Late 1950s
Where it all began
Noosa Junction began at the meeting of two dirt roads. It was a quiet, sandy crossroads with a handful of buildings, including Cookmans, a local plumber’s workshop that became a familiar part of the early community.
1960s to 1970s
The barefoot years
As Noosa’s surf community grew, so did the Junction. It became a place for tradies, surfers and local families to shop, catch up and be part of a close-knit community. Life was simple, the pace was slow, and the beach was never far away.
1979 to 1982
A place to meet
The opening of Noosa Fair in 1979 marked a new chapter. It brought more shops, services and a central meeting place for locals and visitors alike. The Junction started to take shape as a village: a place to run errands, share a coffee and feel part of the community.
Early 1980s
Growing into its name
Through the 1980s, Noosa Junction continued to evolve, with more businesses, better infrastructure and a stronger sense of identity. What started as two dirt roads had grown into a unique and much-loved village: Noosa Junction.
